Discuss the word "Self - control" with your child.  Self - control is a wonderful, yet difficult ability to master.  It is something we as adults practice continuously.  Teaching our children about self - control and encouraging them to practice self - control will give them a wonderful opportunity to strengthen their self - esteem.  Think of all the moments we might have benefited from a little more self - control.  When our children fail to control themselves, we are presented with an awesome opportunity to share one of life stories of self - control.  Controlling ourselves is challenging, yet rewarding work.  Reward yourself and your child by discussing self - control!
